TEIGAN

I began documenting my step-daughter Teigan to raise awareness about the challenges faced by children with autism. Over the last few years this process has become a shared pastime, an activity which has brought us closer together. Early images show the frustration and isolation of the Autistic Spectrum Disorder, but gradually Teigan began to emerge as a typical teenager, curious, precocious and searching for her own independence.
Working with Teigan led me to widen my focus and I started photographing other young Autistic children. You can see more of these images under Auteurs of Autism.
